Create a GPFS File System

After you create a GPFS file system, you can mount it to CES instances or CKS cluster nodes in the same region to store and share data.

Prerequisites

• You have an account with the required permissions to create GPFS file systems.
• You have selected the region where the file system resides.
  • The CES instances or CKS cluster nodes that need to mount the file system are in the same region as the file system.
  • The file system quota, capacity, and inventory in the current region meet your requirements.
• You have confirmed the required storage type and capacity.

Procedure

1. Log on to the console and go to GPFS.
2. Choose Create File System.
3. Configure the file system parameters.

   Parameter	Description
   File System Name	The name of the file system. Do not use the same name for different file systems. We recommend that you use a name that identifies the business, environment, or purpose.
   Region	The region where the file system resides, such as ap-southeast. File systems cannot be mounted across regions.
   Billing type	The billing method.
   Storage Type	Select a storage type based on your requirements.
   Capacity	The capacity of the file system. GPFS uses thick provisioning. The capacity specified during creation affects resource metering and subsequent scaling increments.
   Description	The description of the file system. The length must be 2 to 128 English or Chinese characters.

4. Choose Confirm.
5. Return to the file system list and check the creation result. Check the file system ID and status.
   • Pending: The file system is being created.
   • Running: The file system has been created and can be mounted.
   • Failed: The file system failed to be created. Handle the issue based on the error message. If you cannot identify the cause, contact support.
   File system creation is an asynchronous operation. It usually takes 2 to 10 minutes. A larger capacity may require more time.
