Create a GPFS file system

After creating a GPFS file system, you can mount it to CES instances or CKS cluster nodes in the same region to store and share data.

Prerequisites

• You have a valid account and permission to create a GPFS file system.
• You have selected the region where the file system will reside.
  • The CES instance or CKS cluster node that needs to mount the file system must be in the same region as the file system.
  • The file system count, available capacity, and inventory in the selected region allow you to create the file system.
• You have confirmed the required specifications and capacity.

Procedure

1. Log in to the GPU Cloud console.
2. Go to GPFS > File System.
3. Click Create File System.
4. Configure the file system parameters.

   Parameter	Description
   File System Name	The name of the file system. Do not use the same name for different file systems. We recommend a name that identifies the workload, environment, or purpose.
   Region	The region where the file system resides. A file system cannot be mounted across regions.
   Billing Type	Select a billing method.
   Storage Type	Select a specification based on your requirements.
   Capacity	The capacity of the file system. GPFS uses thick provisioning. The capacity specified at creation affects resource metering and the increment for subsequent capacity expansions.
   Description	A description of the file system, 2 to 128 English or Chinese characters in length.

5. Click Confirm.
6. Return to the file system list page to view the creation result. Verify the file system ID and status.
   • Pending: The file system is being created.
   • Running: The file system is ready to mount.
   • Failed: Creation failed. Check the error message. If you cannot determine the cause, contact technical support.
   Creating a file system is an asynchronous operation. Creation typically takes 2–10 minutes; larger capacities may take longer.

After creating the file system, mount it to access its data from compute nodes.
