# Create and manage custom alert rules

> Learn how to create and manage custom alert rules, and configure trigger conditions and notification recipients.

Custom alert rules are suitable for scenarios where you need to define trigger conditions, alert severity, notification channels, and active periods. You can use PromQL to write condition expressions and receive alert messages through Notifier.

## Create Custom Rules

1. Log in to the [GPU Cloud console](https://console.scitix.ai/gpu-cloud/home) and go to the **Alerts** page.

2. On the **Custom Rules** tab, click **New Rule**.

3. Configure the rule in **Basic Setting**.

   | Parameter | Description |
   | - | - |
   | **Rule Name** | A custom rule name. We recommend using a name that reflects the alert target and trigger condition. |
   | **Severity** | The alert severity. You can select `CRITICAL`, `WARNING`, or `INFO`. |
   | **Enabled** | Whether to enable the rule after it is created. |
   | **PromQL** | A PromQL condition expression. After entering an expression, click **Preview** to view the expression result. |
   | **Eval Interval Seconds** | How frequently the rule checks the condition expression. |
   | **For Duration Seconds** | How long the condition must remain true before an alert is triggered. |
   | **Notifier** | The notification channel for sending messages after an alert is triggered. To send alert messages, select a previously created notifier. |

4. Under **Active Period**, configure the effective dates and active times for the rule.

   | Parameter | Description |
   | - | - |
   | **Effective Days** | Select the days of the week when the rule takes effect. |
   | **Active Times** | Configure the time range during which the rule takes effect each day. |

To make the rule effective during multiple periods on the same day, click **Add Period** and continue configuration.

5. Click **Confirm**.

After creation, verify that the rule is displayed and that its enabled status, trigger conditions, and Notifier meet expectations.

## Update Custom Rules

1. Log in to the [GPU Cloud console](https://console.scitix.ai/gpu-cloud/home) and go to the **Alerts** page.

2. On the **Custom Rules** tab, search for and locate the rule that needs to be modified.

3. Click **Update**.

4. After modifying the rule configuration, click **Confirm**.

## Disable Custom Rules

If you temporarily do not need a rule to continue triggering alerts, search for and locate the target rule on the **Custom Rules** tab, then click **Disable**. Once disabled, the rule will no longer trigger new alarm notifications.

## Delete Custom Rules

If you no longer need a custom rule, Search for and locate it on the **Custom Rules** tab, then click **Delete**. After it is deleted, the rule will no longer trigger new alarm notifications.
