# Get access keys (AK/SK)

> Generate account-level Access Key and Secret Key credentials for SDK or CLI authentication, and store them securely.

Access keys consist of an Access Key (AK) and a Secret Key (SK). These account-level credentials authenticate SDKs, CLIs, and other tools that require AK/SK.

> [!NOTE]
>
> AK/SK are different from the API keys used to call models in Model Inference. For model requests, use a [model API key](https://docs.scitix.ai/model-inference/usage/api-keys.md), not AK/SK.

## Procedure

1. Sign in to the console, open the account menu in the upper-right corner, and select **Account Settings**.
2. Open **Security**. In the **Access keys (AK / SK)** section, generate a key pair.
3. Follow the page instructions to obtain the AK and SK, and save them in a trusted credential manager.

## Security considerations

* Do not include AK/SK in public repositories, container images, logs, screenshots, or shared documents. Do not expose them in browser-side code. Even if the console lets you display a key, supply credentials to applications through environment variables or a credential manager rather than hardcoding them in source code.
* Before replacing AK/SK, identify the applications and automated tasks that use the existing credentials. Plan how to configure and verify the new credentials to avoid authentication failures and service interruptions.
